Today Ebony had the honour of being a guest in Mrs. Gerdes' grade 5 class at Pine Street School in Sherwood Park. One of Mrs. Gerdes' students, Desiree, read the book "Forward, Shakespeare" written by Jean Little. It is a story about Seeing-eye puppy, Shakespeare, who is about to be matched up with a blind boy and begin his working life. Little, a well known author of children's books, is blind and working with her third guide dog.
Earlier in the day, Desiree did an oral presentation to fellow students on her thoughts of the book. She surprised her classmates by having Ebony drop in just before lunch. Ebony showed them how she can pick up dropped items, open and close doors, and remain focused on her job even with lots of distractions. The students were very interested and asked many wonderful questions.
